Love Eternal

This is a prayer I wrote for a dear friend's mother's funeral back in 2002. I thought it was lost long ago but I found it while moving recently and I'm so glad to be able to share it with you. Though written to celebrate a mother's love, the words are equally applicable for loving Fathers, of course.

In loving memory of Dear Mrs Bloomfield (Lily)  such a kind, loving, generous grandmother figure to my sister and me, you are not forgotten x

In love we exist, even before we are born
Through loving we truly live and live truly
For love in this life our hearts yearn
To love and be loved our life's quest
A lifetime spent loving-immortal insurance
In hearts remembered, cherished
A seed sown, never forgotten
And when parted, take heart
There is no death
But the birth of love freed!
In a thousand pearls of light she is with you
Her love an eternal blanket wrapped safely round you
Hallelujah
Love releases all debts
Love carries the Spirit onwards-Home
A bridge between this world and next
Never to leave us
Love
A mother's gift
Freely given
And yours to keep always,
Forever and ever.

Amen.
